COLOR

I'm working up a superhero pitch for a number of prospective publishers, and am lucky enough to have Osmarco Valladao, who did the coloring on my forthcoming short story in ape's UFO anthology, signed on to color this story if it ever gets picked up. He has a lot on his plate right now and was not able to color the proposal pages, but he did give me some options regarding the coloring of the costume thanks to his coloring for the proposed cover, which also has a new log Osmarco used that makes this cover looks a hundred times better than the b/w mock-up I did, which I threw in for comparison's sake.

Now I just need to decide on a final coloring scheme.

Enjoy,

ARTWORK! page 4 of an upcoming pitch

Here's page 4 of an upcoming superheroine pitch I am working up with an amazing artist, Branko Jovanovic. I have no idea why I haven't seen his work before, but I'm happy he agreed to work with me.

It won't necessarily be evident what is going on in the lower three panels - the middle one should have a "light" effect that would be done by a colorist to signify the hero's changeover from her her identity (created by a hologram) to her civilian identity, that of the Asian-American woman in that final panel.

New pitch

Finding an artist for my UFO story that will be published by Ape - first online then in print - was a bit difficult. And then, on this one day I open my email and have samples from 3 artists that are all great. In the previous post, I showed off one of the layout pages from Jason Copland, the artist I am working with on the Ape project.

But the sample pages from one of the other artists told me he would be a perfect fit for another proposal I had been working on - not seriously, but when the muse alerted me. I approached him, and he was open to working on this with me. So, I put the pitch into overdrive. I'll talk more about that later, but here are a few preliminary sketches from Branko, who will be doing the pitch for a superheroine idea I had as a result of Shadowline's contest earlier this year.
