In a trip to Wal-Mart (a rare occurrence) for ribbon or wrapping paper, my wife and 9-year-old stopped at the gift tree where you can choose a gift for a needy child or family. My wife stepped back and allowed our son to make the choice of what we would give. There were plenty of toys that kids wanted, and that would have been great. But he went for the gift card to provide Christmas dinner for a family of five. It makes you understand how the Grinch's heart could grow three sizes, that day.
